About The Position

The CNC Lathe Operator will produce machined parts by operating a computer numerical control (CNC) machine; maintaining quality and safety standards; and keeping records. This role involves operating CNC lathe machines, loading the feed mechanism, and maintaining specifications through various operations like drilling, grooving, and cutting. The operator will also be responsible for observing quality, detecting malfunctions, troubleshooting processes, sharpening and replacing tools, and adhering to quality assurance procedures. Safety is paramount, requiring adherence to safety procedures and regulations, and starting and stopping machines safely. Equipment maintenance, including following manufacturer instructions and troubleshooting, is also a key responsibility. The role requires maintaining continuity between shifts by documenting and communicating actions and needs, completing production and quality logs, and updating job knowledge through educational opportunities. The operator will contribute to organizational goals by adding value and maintaining 6S standards in all work stations. Other duties may be assigned by a supervisor.

Responsibilities

  • Operates CNC lathe machines.
  • Loads feed mechanism by lifting stock into position.
  • Maintains specifications by observing drilling, grooving, and cutting, including turning, facing, knurling and thread chasing operations; taking measurements; detecting malfunctions; troubleshooting processes; sharpening and replacing worn tools; adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes.
  • Maintains safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.
  • Starts and stops lathe machines in a safe manner.
  • Maintains equipment by following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for maintenance.
  • Maintains continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
  • Documents actions by completing production and quality logs.
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities.
  • Accomplishes organization goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value.
