About The Position

The CNC Lathe Machinist is responsible for running the lathe to process raw materials into parts and components. This role produces aerospace parts in a timely manner in accordance with blueprints, sketches, and work orders with minimal supervision. The machinist inspects and measures parts with general measuring devices (including micrometers & calipers) and makes machine offset adjustments. This position specializes in operating one type of machine tool, Lathe, used in making or maintaining jigs, fixtures or gages, and plans and performs difficult lathe operations which require complicated set-ups or a high degree of accuracy. The role determines proper feeds, speeds, tooling and operation sequence, using a variety of precision measuring instruments, and maintains a workable supply of perishable tools required in the operation of machinery, as well as supply charts of Q1 functions. The CNC Lathe Machinist will also provide additional operational support to the Production team and perform other duties as assigned by management.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma
  • 10+ years’ experience operating CNC lathes
  • Experience reading blueprints
  • Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) in ASME Y14.5- 2009 standard
  • Knowledge of HAAS ST30 & Mori Lather NLX2000/500
  • Knowledge of general machining practices encompassing cutting tool nomenclature and uses, calculations of speeds, material composition understanding, comprehension of the basic function of fixtures and familiarity with inspecting and checking methods
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints
  • Great attention to detail and communication skills

Nice To Haves

  • 1-2 years’ experience in the aerospace industry preferred
  • Forklift certification preferred
  • Three years work or volunteer experience in an office environment
