About The Position

The CNC Lathe Machinist is responsible for operating and monitoring CNC lathe machines to produce high-quality parts. This role involves setting up machines, ensuring they function correctly, and verifying that finished work-pieces meet precise specifications. The position requires a strong understanding of machining processes, basic mathematics, and the ability to use precision measuring instruments.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of basic hand tools, including their uses and maintenance.
  • Ability to quickly and repeatedly adjust the controls of a machine to exact positions.
  • Ability to control the operations of machining equipment and systems.
  • Basic mathematics knowledge, particularly Trigonometry.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Basic Blueprint Reading.
  • Documentation and Modern’s Production System.
  • Inspection Techniques for Machinists.
  • SPC Charts and Tools.
  • Geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.
  • Adjusting Boring heads.

Nice To Haves

  • 3-4 years of experience in relevant field preferred.
  • 5S and Lean Manufacturing training.
  • Crane/Hoist Operator Certification.

Responsibilities

  • Loads, Unloads, Starts, and Stops Machines.
  • Sets the feeds and speeds of machines during the machining process.
  • Watches gauges, dials, and other key indicators to make sure machines are working properly and work-pieces meet quality standards.
  • Monitors machines during operation in order to detect dull cutting tools and excessive vibration.
  • Measures dimensions of finished work-pieces to ensure conformance to specifications, using precision measuring instruments, templates, and fixtures.
  • Calculates and sets machine movements according to drawing specs.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
