About The Position

The CNC Lathe Machinist sets up and operates CNC machine tools that automatically drill and ream metal parts for the production of Aerospace and Defense components. The role will include adjusting machine feed and speed, changing cutting tools, or adjusting machine controls when automatic programming as needed.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Vocational training or 3 years of CNC Lathe experience
  • Candidates must meet security screening requirements as set out by ITAR directives.

Responsibilities

  • Machines precision ball screws, ball bearings, and other aerospace components.
  • Operates a manual or 3-5 axis lathe or mill machine, including but not limited to: Mazak, Hardinge, LeBlond, Mori Sieki, Bridgeport, and more.
  • Selects, measures, assembles, and sets machine tools, such as drill bits and milling or cutting tools, using precision gauges and instruments.
  • Mounts, installs, aligns, and secures tools, attachments, fixtures, and workpiece on machine.
  • Calculates and sets machine controls to position tools, regulate cutting depth, speed, feed, or coolant flow.
  • Positions and secures workpiece on machine bed, indexing table, fixture, or dispensing or holding device.
  • Confers with supervisor or programmer to resolve machine malfunctions and production errors and obtains approval to continue production.
  • Maintains machines and removes and replaces broken or worn machine tools, using hand tools.
  • Follows all safety protocols, documentation requirements, and Aerospace quality standards.
