About The Position

The CNC Lathe Machinist/Programmer is responsible for programming and producing parts in lathe operations from materials such as metals and plastics. This role involves studying and interpreting specifications to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished products, sequence of operations, and set up requirements. The position requires the ability to read blueprints and generate G-Code programs at the controller to produce quality parts. Daily responsibilities include ensuring safety devices are operational, performing daily maintenance and safety checks, loading and unloading material, and maintaining a log of preventive maintenance. The machinist will also be responsible for the safe operation of CNC lathes, alerting supervisors to maintenance needs, observing machine operation for defects or malfunctions, and suggesting efficiency improvements. Additionally, the role involves tracking scrap material, inspecting final products with precision measuring equipment, and maintaining a clean work area. Miscellaneous duties as assigned to support Tee Enterprises' goals are also part of the role.

Requirements

• HS Diploma/GED or vocational tech school.
• Strong mechanical ability.
• Knowledge of computer software, drawings, DXF’s, and ability to draw using AutoCAD.
• Ability to interpret mechanical drawings with training.
• Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) and cross functional interpersonal skills.
• Strong work ethic, integrity, initiative, and “can-do” attitude.
• Ability to work in a “team environment.”
• Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
• Interpret work orders.
• Ability to identify different material/metal.
• Ability to read job specifications to determine machine adjustments.
• Ability to read tape measure and dial caliper.

Responsibilities

• Programming and producing parts in lathe operations from materials such as metals and plastics.
• Studying and interpreting specifications to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished products, sequence of operations and set up requirements.
• Reading blueprints and generating G-Code programs at the controller to produce quality parts.
• Checking that all safety devices/machine guarding are in place and operational.
• Performing daily maintenance and safety checks.
• Loading & unloading of material on the lathes.
• Maintaining a log of preventive maintenance on a daily/weekly schedule according to manufacturer’s recommendations.
• Setting up and safe operation of the CNC lathes.
• Alerting supervisor of any maintenance or repairs that require outside services.
• Observing tool and machine operation to detect work piece defects or machine malfunction.
• Notifying supervisor of any problems and suggesting changes that will allow jobs to run more efficiently.
• Keeping track of scrap material generated by jobs.
• Inspecting final products using high tolerance measuring equipment, such as calipers and micrometers.
• Keeping the area clean, neat and orderly to prevent slips, trips, and falls.
• Miscellaneous duties as assigned to help Tee Enterprises achieve its goals.
• Checking for any material defects or damage.
• Verifying quantity.
• Verifying orientation.
• Inspecting cut stock parts throughout the operation to assure quality.
