About The Position

This is a direct hire, full-time position for a CNC Lathe Machinist Programmer in the manufacturing industry. The role involves programming, setting up, and operating CNC lathes to produce machined parts. The machinist will work on special projects, including large vacuum weldments and chambers, and will be responsible for all aspects of machining from start to finish, including deburring and detail work. Maintaining quality and safety standards is crucial. Experience with Doosan lathes with Fanuc controls is desirable but not required.

Requirements

  • Solid understanding of G-Code/M-Code
  • Ability to read drawings/blueprints
  • Self-motivated with strong attention to detail
  • Shop math skills - geometry and trig
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively
  • Ability to lift at least 75lb, bend, stoop, reach, and stand for an extended period
  • Use of PPE (personal protective equipment) and safe lifting techniques
  • Familiarity with pre/post-weld machining
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 5+ years of shop experience required

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Doosan lathe with Fanuc controls
  • High vacuum (UHV) experience (knowledge of high vacuum surface finish requirements)
  • Superior knowledge of GD&T and ability to interpret feature control blocks (ASME Y14)
  • Superior English language skills –both spoken and written
  • Precision manufacturing experience
  • AA/AS degree in engineering/manufacturing preferred

Responsibilities

  • Programming, setting up, and operating CNC lathes
  • Making edits and proving programs
  • CNC programming at the controls
  • Selecting cutting tools, machine speeds, and feed rates
  • Carrying out daily/weekly preventative maintenance
  • Practicing good housekeeping (5S)
  • Communicating all defects and scrap
  • Notifying supervisor of any problems in manufacturing products or safety issues
  • Working directly with welders on special projects
  • Handling all aspects of machining from start to finish, including deburring and detail work
  • Maintaining quality and safety standards
