About The Position

Leidos is seeking a highly skilled and experienced CNC Laser and Press Brake Programmer to join our Platform Integration Facility team in Huntsville, AL, to support operations in our precision sheet metal environment. This programmer will be responsible providing shop floor support for troubleshooting, creating NC programs, participating in Root Cause & Corrective Action (RCCA) activities, and manufacturing process development. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in build-to-print machine shop environments and experience supporting CNC Laser, Press Brake, and process improvement initiatives. This role requires strong communication skills to ensure seamless collaboration between engineers, and leadership. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, or related field) with 4 years minimum experience OR equivalent education and experience in a precision sheet metal, build-to-print shop environment.
  • Proficiency in Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) and engineering drawing interpretation.
  • Experience with Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) such as Solumina.
  • Strong understanding of CNC laser cutting and forming processes, tooling, workholding, and process optimization.
  • Demonstrated experience with continuous improvement initiatives and process optimization.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally in a TEAM environment.
  • Ability to work independently and make critical decisions in a fast-paced production environment.
  • Must be a US Citizen and possess (and be able to maintain) a Final Secret Clearance OR meet the eligibility to obtain (and maintain) a Secret Clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with lean manufacturing principles, including 5S, Value Stream Mapping, and Kaizen initiatives.
  • Familiarity with SolidWorks or other CAD software for fixture and tool design.
  • Experience with Trumpf Boost or other CAM software for sheet metal support.

Responsibilities

  • Provide shop floor support to resolve technical and manufacturing issues.
  • Work with quality engineering and manufacturing groups to perform root cause analysis and develop corrective action plans to reduce/eliminate non-conformances.
  • Develop CNC programs for cutting and forming of complex aerospace and defense hardware in a variety of materials including, but not limited to, inconel, titanium, alloy steels, stainless steels, and aluminum.
  • Create complete work package consisting of CNC program, operation setup sheets, tool lists and other related documentation for use by sheet metal technicians.
  • Analyze engineering drawings and required specifications to develop CNC program and process flow to meet drawing requirements.
  • Analyze and evaluate manufacturing methods to provide solutions that positively affect cost, operator safety, productivity, and quality.
  • Continuously improve production processes by implementing Lean initiatives.
  • Develop technical solutions to complex problems using a data driven approach.
