About The Position

The Laser Operator is responsible for the daily setup, operation, and basic maintenance of one or more laser cutting machines to ensure safe, efficient, and on-time production. This role also supports the Laser Pull team with material staging, housekeeping, and general shop support as needed.

Requirements

  • Forklift experience required or ability to obtain certification.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and flat patterns.
  • Basic knowledge of NC machine code (or willingness to learn).
  • Familiarity with sheet metal fabrication and common industry metals.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Team-oriented with the ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Safety-focused mindset.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Bystronic laser equipment preferred.
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform daily startup and shutdown of laser equipment.
  • Load and unload materials; stage raw materials at work centers.
  • Operate forklifts safely to move materials and finished goods.
  • Monitor production to ensure adherence to the schedule.
  • Perform minor maintenance, optic cleaning, and routine equipment upkeep per manufacturer guidelines.
  • Identify and report equipment issues promptly.
  • Complete and maintain accurate work-order documentation in line with quality standards.
  • Inspect laser-cut parts using precision measuring equipment.
  • Communicate effectively with scheduling, production, and other departments.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Support the Pull department and complete other duties as assigned.
  • Maintain good attendance and adherence to company policies.
