CNC Inspector - Machine Shop

The Quality Inspector will ensure conformance to specifications for machined parts.

Requirements

  • Expert Knowledge of dimensional inspection.
  • Knowledge of GD&T principles
  • Ability to read blueprints.
  • Knowledge of quality control processes and procedures.
  • Solid understanding of common inspection techniques and equipment.
  • Excellent communications skills.
  • Position requires exerting up to 15 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Experience with CNC machining, manual machining, or precision manufacturing/fabrication required.
  • Experience reading and understanding engineering drawings and blueprints required.

Nice To Haves

  • Ability to program CMM and other similar inspection equipment desired, but not necessary.
  • Polyworks software knowledge highly desired.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure machined parts meet exact engineering specifications detailed on blueprints and engineering drawings.
  • Perform First Article, In-Process, and Last Article inspections on parts as needed.
  • Document results and findings in accordance with internal standards using approved software and processes.
  • Perform as needed inspection/calibration procedures to fulfill Hamilton company needs external to the machine shop.
  • Collaborate with operators and internal engineering staff to troubleshoot and resolve problems related to part inspection results.
  • Work alongside operations staff to develop and carryout in-process inspections.
  • Utilize inspection equipment such as, but not limited to – calipers, micrometers, gauge pins, thread gauges, height gauges, CMM, form tracers, optical comparators, microscopes, etc.
  • Maintain and calibrate inspection equipment to set standards and expectations.
  • Communicate constructively and effectively with all team members on a timely basis.
  • Capable of learning and utilizing quality inspection software for data input.
