About The Position

Morris Group, Inc., a large machine tool distributor, is seeking an ambitious and conscientious CNC Field Service Technician for its HFO Midwest division. This role involves supporting manufacturers of precision machined parts by improving productivity and maintaining a competitive advantage. HFO Midwest is the exclusive distributor for Haas CNC machine tools and rotary products in Ohio, Kentucky, and West Virginia, offering a complete range of advanced machinery. The technician will be responsible for the installation, troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of Haas CNC machine tools and controls at customer sites. This position requires extensive knowledge of electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic schematics, as well as the ability to research and resolve issues using technical documentation and vendor resources. Accurate documentation of service activities is essential. The role also includes promoting and performing preventative maintenance, conducting after-sales technical support and training, and maintaining in-depth knowledge of the machine tool industry and company product lines.

Requirements

  • Experience in mechanical/ electrical repair of CNC machine tools
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to meet the physical requirements of the job
  • Flexible hours and frequent travel, including driving throughout a regional territory
  • Must be able to perform bending, twisting, stooping, reaching and lifting of moderate to heavyweight material up to 100 lbs. with assistance from equipment or other employees
  • Highly mobile, able to access all areas of the premises
  • Ability to concentrate and remain focused while prioritizing multiple tasks, responsibilities, and projects
  • Ability to sit for prolonged period of times
  • Able to perform bending, twisting, stooping, reaching, and lifting of moderate to heavyweight material up to 50 lbs. with assistance from equipment or other employees
  • Ability to frequently use hands and arms
  • Vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus
  • Ability to work responsibly and professionally in dynamic job sites that may involve tight timelines, changing priorities, and interaction with customers and team members
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, climb, and reach for extended periods while servicing equipment
  • Ability to work in tight spaces or awkward positions, including accessing equipment interiors and elevated areas
  • Strong hand–eye coordination and fine motor skills required for precise electrical, mechanical, and diagnostic work
  • Ability to work in industrial environments, with exposure to noise, lubricants, coolants, metal chips, and other manufacturing conditions, while consistently wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE)

  • Haas CNC Repair background a plus
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings and schematics beneficial

Responsibilities

  • Traveling to customer sites to install, troubleshoot, repair and maintain all machine tool equipment and controls for customer organizations
  • Use machine tool manuals, technical documents, internal and vendor resources to research machine issues
  • Ensuring accurate documentation is completed and submitted to office and customer in regards to status of machine issues, repairs, and installation
  • Promoting and performing preventative maintenance on customer machine tool equipment and conducting after-sales technical support and training
  • Possessing and maintaining an in-depth knowledge of machine tool industry and product lines represented by the company
  • Perform related duties as required
