About The Position

Morris Group, Inc., a third-generation, family-owned business and one of North America's largest machine tool distributors, is seeking a CNC Field Service Technician for its Morris South division. This role is crucial for supporting manufacturers of precision machined parts in the southeastern U.S. The company's mission is to enhance manufacturers' competitive advantage by improving productivity. The Field Service Technician will be responsible for the installation, repair, and maintenance of CNC machine tools, controls (such as Fanuc and Siemens), and other components purchased by customers, working independently to ensure high-quality service and customer satisfaction.

Requirements

  • Five years of experience with CNC machine repair.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite and other business programs.
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings and schematics.
  • Excellent technical, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Must be able to meet the physical requirements of the job, including flexible hours and frequent travel and driving throughout a regional territory.
  • Ability to concentrate and remain focused while prioritizing multiple tasks, responsibilities, and projects.
  • Ability to sit for prolonged periods.
  • Ability to perform bending, twisting, stooping, reaching, and lifting of moderate to heavyweight material up to 50 lbs. with assistance.
  • Ability to frequently use hands and arms.
  • Vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Ability to work responsibly and professionally in dynamic job sites with tight timelines, changing priorities, and customer interaction.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, climb, and reach for extended periods while servicing equipment.
  • Ability to work in tight spaces or awkward positions, including accessing equipment interiors and elevated areas.
  • Strong hand–eye coordination and fine motor skills required for precise electrical, mechanical, and diagnostic work.
  • Ability to work in industrial environments, with exposure to noise, lubricants, coolants, metal chips, and other manufacturing conditions, while consistently wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE).

Responsibilities

  • Traveling to customer sites to install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain all machine tool equipment and controls.
  • Utilizing machine tool manuals, technical documents, and internal/vendor resources to research machine issues.
  • Ensuring proper documentation is completed and submitted regarding the status of machine issues, repairs, and installations.
  • Promoting and performing preventative maintenance on customer machine tool equipment.
  • Conducting after-sales technical support and training.
  • Possessing and maintaining an in-depth knowledge of the machine tool industry and company product lines.
  • Performing related duties as required.
