About The Position

The CNC 5-axis Machinist will be responsible to set up and run complex multi-axis machining jobs with a high level of precision and independence. This role focuses on attention to detail, and producing high-quality parts in a fast-paced, high-mix environment.

Requirements

3–5+ years of CNC machining experience, including multi-axis or 5-axis machining.
Strong ability to set up complex jobs, including work holding, tooling setup, and work offset alignment.
Proficiency with G-code edits, toolpath understanding, and CNC controls (Haas, Mazak, DMG, or similar).
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, and GD&T.
Strong understanding of feeds, speeds, tooling, and machining best practices.
Experience performing precision inspections and holding tight tolerances.
Ability to work independently, problem-solve, and machine parts with minimal supervision.
Strong communication skills and willingness to collaborate with others.
Experience with high-mix, low-volume job-shop work.
Excellent work ethic, reliability, and consistent attendance.
High attention to detail and commitment to quality.

Responsibilities

Set up and operate 5-axis CNC machining centers to produce precision components from start to finish.
Perform program edits and minor optimizations to improve part quality, tool life, and cycle time.
Select install, and verify tooling and fixtures, including custom workholding when required.
Use probing routines and advanced work offsets to accurately locate and align parts.
Perform in-process inspections using micrometers, calipers, height gauges, indicators, and other precision tools.
Troubleshoot machining issues such as chatter, tool wear, dimensional deviations, or surface finish problems.
Maintain accurate documentation, including part counts, inspection results, and job notes.
Work closely with Quality, Programming, and Engineering to resolve issues and ensure parts meet all specifications.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
Perform other necessary duties and tasks as requested.
