About The Position
At CHI Mercy Health Valley City, part of CommonSpirit Health, the Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) is a cornerstone of patient care, providing essential support under RN direction to promote patient comfort, safety, and recovery. The CNA delivers compassionate basic care, assists with patient transport, and contributes to each patient's plan of care as part of an interdisciplinary team, upholding high standards of conduct and patient well-being. The role provides basic nursing care within the CNA's scope of practice and according to age-specific needs. The CNA collects and reports nursing data, supports implementation of care plans, assists with procedures and examinations, and uses patient-care equipment safely. This position is eligible for a $2,500 sign-on bonus.
Requirements
- Previous healthcare experience.
- Certified Nursing Assistant certification issued by the state of North Dakota.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association within 30 days of the start date.
- Strong communication skills.
- A meticulous approach to patient support and commitment to dignified, high-quality healthcare.

- Computer experience.
Responsibilities
- Provide basic nursing care within scope of practice and according to age-specific needs, including bathing, hygiene, feeding, elimination needs, and patient activities.
- Apply knowledge of growth and development across the lifespan to provide age-appropriate care.
- Perform assigned nursing data collection, including vital signs, weights, intake and output, and glucose readings, and promptly report irregularities to appropriate nursing personnel.
- Participate in implementing care plans according to individual patient needs.
- Distribute water glasses, meal trays, and snacks in a timely manner.
- Collect urine, stool, and sputum specimens following the correct procedure.
- Assist designated personnel with procedures, treatments, or examinations as required.
- Use equipment properly and safely and report malfunctions appropriately.
- Assist with patient transport.
