The CNA role in the Ambulatory Surgery Center assists Registered Nurses (RNs) with the daily care of patients. The position involves measuring and documenting vital signs, intake and output, and patient data in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR). The CNA also participates in patient admissions, transfers, and discharges, ensuring patient comfort and safety by keeping call lights within reach and responding promptly. They perform purposeful rounding, assist with patient positioning and transportation, and support nutritional needs and skin integrity. Additionally, the role involves specimen collection, point-of-care testing, and potentially assisting with IV removal, post-mortem care, and bladder scans under RN supervision. The CNA must adhere to infection prevention policies and coordinate with various departments for patient tests and treatments. They maintain knowledge of the EHR system and other computer systems for ordering supplies and processing charges. Effective communication and customer service are essential, fostering a harmonious work environment and ensuring positive patient interactions. The position requires the ability to provide age-appropriate care based on the principles of growth and development.
