About The Position

Heart of Hospice Columbia, part of LHC Group and the Optum family of businesses, provides home health, hospice, and community-based services. The Home and Community Based Services Aide supports individuals in remaining in their own homes by assisting with personal hygiene, daily living activities, and household functions. The role involves working independently in clients’ homes and providing care without discrimination based on a client’s age, race, creed, color, sex, disability, or financial condition. The position is offered as full-time or PRN. The hourly pay range is $18.00 to $20.00 for full-time employment, with pay based on factors including local labor markets, education, work experience, and certifications. Benefits and incentives are subject to eligibility requirements. Candidates must pass a drug test before beginning employment.

Requirements

Current driver’s license and vehicle insurance, and reliable transportation or access to public transportation.

Nice To Haves

Current CPR certification, or ability to complete it within 90 days of hire.
At least 6 months of home care experience.
Ability to work flexible hours and independently.

Responsibilities

Provide personal care and assist with daily living activities, including bathing, grooming, dressing, and ambulation.
Provide medication reminders.
Support household tasks and meal preparation.
Accompany clients to appointments or errands as needed.
Monitor and document client condition, vital signs, and incidents.
Maintain client confidentiality and use the EVV system.
Help ensure a safe environment and operate medical equipment properly.
Respond promptly to client needs.
Provide care in any home situation regardless of the client’s age, race, creed, color, sex, disability, or financial condition.
