About The Position

As a member of the Corewell Health nursing team, the CNA provides patient care according to individual care plans, unit routines, and hospital policies. The role works under the direction of a Registered Nurse, Unit Manager, or other licensed nurse and supports patients and their families. This is a part-time, day-shift position in the Nursing Unit at Cedar RNC in Grand Rapids, with 24 scheduled hours per week. Work hours are 7:00 AM–7:30 PM on variable days, including every third weekend.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of a State of Michigan-approved CNA training course.
• Michigan Nursing Assistant certification from the Michigan Department of Licensing & Regulatory Affairs, Bureau of Community and Health Systems, upon hire; specified facilities have later deadlines, including within 90 days for listed RNCs and 120 days for Lakeland.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross within 90 days; the posting notes exclusions and a separate requirement for Hanson Hospice Center.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care under the direction of the Unit Manager or licensed nurse, consistent with unit policies and procedures.
• Provide day-to-day care to assigned residents or patients, including dressing, bathing, transporting, and feeding.
• Document care provided as directed and in accordance with guidelines.
• Maintain patients’ environment, work area, and equipment, and report equipment malfunctions to appropriate personnel.
• Complete and maintain the required number of CNA educational hours.
• Participate in selected unit quality-monitoring activities under the direction of the Unit Manager or Nurse Leader.
