About The Position

Elderwood at North Creek is offering a paid Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Training Program for individuals looking to start a career in healthcare. This is a 3-week, in-person program led by a professional nurse educator, providing hands-on learning in a clinical environment. Upon successful completion, participants will transition into a full-time or part-time CNA role at Elderwood at North Creek. The program includes classroom instruction, skills lab practice, and supervised clinical experience, culminating in the NYS CNA Certification Exam. Participants will gain paid training, a direct employment pathway, real clinical experience, state certification preparation, and mentorship.

Requirements

  • Sixteen (16) years of age required; high school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Employment Certificate/Permit required for 16-17 years of age.
  • No findings or convictions of resident abuse, mistreatment and misappropriation of property through any current or previous licensing agency.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language at an intermediate or more advanced level.
  • Reliable and committed to completing a structured 3-week onsite program.
  • Compassionate and motivated to care for older adults.
  • Professional, punctual, and team-oriented.
  • Ready to build a long-term healthcare career.
  • Pass the Prometric Reading Assessment (80% or higher).
  • Achieve 90% or higher on quizzes and final exam.
  • Attend all classroom, lab, and clinical days.
  • Provide required health documentation (MMR, Flu, etc.).
  • Maintain professionalism and reliability throughout training.
  • Have dependable transportation.
  • Participants must have access to a personal device (laptop, tablet, or smartphone) for supplemental coursework.

Responsibilities

  • Transport residents or accompanies ambulatory residents as assigned to various locations in the building including the dining room, activity program areas, therapy or treatment areas.
  • Make unoccupied resident beds, as assigned.
  • Assist in the Dining Room with food service to residents, under the direction of licensed therapy staff; duties include passing trays, cutting meat, opening cartons or other containers.
  • Distribute supplemental nourishments to residents who do not need to be fed, as directed.
  • Conduct informal activities on the nursing unit when time permits, as directed.
  • Supply fresh water in resident's rooms, as directed.
  • Prepare bed and bedwear of resident's at hour of sleep, as assigned.
  • Help keep general areas of the assigned nursing unit neat and orderly, as directed.
  • Clean resident's equipment (wheelchair/geri chair, bed, etc.), as assigned.
  • Keep the rooms of residents orderly, as assigned.
  • Notify therapist of any unusual incidents regarding residents.
