About The Position

Under the direction of supervisory nursing staff, the CNA Trainee provides daily care for assigned residents and assists in the development of nursing care plans by participating in care conferences. The trainee period is a maximum of 120 days from the date of hire. During classroom training, direct supervision is provided by the Program Coordinator, Program Primary Instructor, and potentially additional trainers. During supervised clinical training on resident units, supervision is provided by the Program Coordinator, Program Primary Instructor, and potentially additional Nurse Aide Trainee Clinical Supervisors. Following formal training, while awaiting NYS Competency Exam results, nurse aide trainees may be supervised by Nurse Managers, Charge Nurses, and Team Leaders across all three shifts.

Requirements

Must be able to read and write English
Ability to read, write, and comprehend medical terminology
Demonstrates ability to work under stress
Able to relate to residents, staff, and visitors
Must be currently enrolled in State approved Nurse Aide Training Program
Knowledge of procedures and techniques involved in administering simple treatments and providing basic nursing care to residents
Understanding of standard techniques used in providing personal services for residents and in caring for equipment and supplies
Good understanding of basis of asepsis to avoid infection of residents and self or contamination of equipment and supplies
