CNA/Medication Aide
About The Position
This role involves assisting residents with daily living activities, including medication management, personal care, and ensuring a safe and supportive environment. The CNA/Medication Aide will work closely with the Executive Director and other staff to coordinate care, monitor resident status, and support facility activities. Responsibilities include administering medications, assisting with bathing and dressing, transporting residents, and maintaining accurate records. The position requires excellent communication and assessment skills, with the ability to handle residents weighing 50 pounds or more.
Requirements
- Current GA CMA certification
- Ability to understand and follow instructions in English
- Communicate effectively with Members/Clients, family, and staff
- Perform simple arithmetic
- Ability to document care given
- Excellent assessment skills
- Ability to assist with the transferring of Members/Clients weighing 50 pounds or more using a transfer belt, mechanical lift, or with the assistance of others
Responsibilities
- Assist with routine daily medications, either prescription or non-prescription
- Coordinate with Executive Director, RCC, and coordinators to assist with care and medications
- Escort residents to various areas of the facility
- Change beds, give showers or baths, and assist with dressing
- Assist with care needs during community outings and events
- Keep Executive Director and/or RCC informed of residents status
- Support facility staff in providing engaging and meaningful activities
- Transport Member/Clients on outings and appointments
- Monitor client condition by observing physical and mental condition, intake and output, and exercise notifying nursing supervisor of changes or unusual conditions
- Assist clients by providing personal services, such as bathing, dressing, and grooming
- Record client information by making entries in their care plan and EMR notifying supervision of changes or unusual conditions
- Maintain a safe, secure, and healthy environment by following standards and procedures; maintaining security precautions; following prescribed dietary requirements and nutrition standards
- Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities
- Protect Smyrna Village by adhering to professional standards, The Smyrna Village policies and procedures, federal, state, and local requirements
- Enhance service reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments
- Assist with Medication reminders as scheduled
- Perform specific work duties and responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor
