The Medical Surgical Acute Care unit cares for the adult and geriatric population. Patient conditions may include gastrointestinal disease, blood stream infections, post procedural or post-surgical, pancreatitis, acute renal failure, pneumonia, congestive heart failure, asthma, COPD, urinary tract infections, infections requiring intravenous (IV) antibiotics, and COVID. New Mission Partners must display a positive and professional attitude and be adaptable to change. The Patient Care Technician/Certified Nursing Assistant (PCT/CNA) provides appropriate safe basic care to patients which includes taking vital signs, assisting patients with activities of daily living, specimen collection, and observation of patients for physical/emotional changes. Other duties include recording pertinent information in patient charts, communicating with other Patient Care Team members to ensure continuity of care, and may function in a role providing constant supervision to patients as needed. Duties may vary according to department expectations and needs.
