About The Position

Adventist Health Tehachapi Valley is a 25-bed hospital offering outpatient services, an emergency department, rural health clinics, and medical offices. The Certified Nursing Assistant provides personal nursing care under the direction of a licensed Registered Nurse (RN). The role includes assisting patients with activities of daily living and self-care, completing routine assigned tasks, and reporting patient status and concerns to the RN.

The position also involves taking vital signs, supporting patients with basic needs, performing clerical duties, and using organizational and prioritization skills to help the department run smoothly and meet deadlines. Associates must receive required vaccinations as a condition of employment and annually thereafter where applicable; medical and religious exemptions may apply.

Requirements

• Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification is required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Health Care Provider certification from an approved vendor per Adventist Health policy is required.

Nice To Haves

• High school education, GED, or equivalent is preferred.
• Phlebotomy certification is preferred in California and Hawaii.

Responsibilities

• Provide personal nursing care under the direction of a licensed Registered Nurse.
• Assist patients with activities of daily living, including nutrition and hydration, elimination, personal care, positioning, and restorative care.
• Perform authorized duties and tasks under Chapter 851 Division 63, including applicable assistance with oxygen, specimens, drainage devices, sequential compression devices, and other listed care activities.
• Take vital signs, including pulse and blood pressure.
• Help patients with basic needs such as bathing, dressing, and feeding.
• Perform clerical duties, including routing patient reports as appropriate.
• Use organizational and prioritization skills to keep the department running smoothly and meet deadlines.
• Report patient status and concerns to the RN.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
