About The Position

The CNA - Med/Surg provides personal nursing care to patients under the direction of a licensed registered nurse (RN). The role performs tasks associated with activities of daily living and self-care needs, completes routine assigned tasks, and reports patient status and concerns to the RN. This position is represented by SEIU.

The job is located at Adventist Health Twin Cities in Templeton, a 122-bed acute care facility serving northern San Luis Obispo County. Adventist Health requires associates to receive required vaccinations as a condition of employment and annually thereafter where applicable; medical and religious exemptions may apply. The organization participates in E-Verify.

Requirements

• Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification is required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from an approved vendor per Adventist Health policy is required.

Nice To Haves

• High school education, GED, or equivalent preferred.
• Phlebotomy certification preferred.
• Audiometry and vision training or a CHDP certificate preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients with activities of daily living, including nutrition and hydration, elimination, personal care, positioning devices, restraints, and restorative care.
• Take vital signs, including pulse and blood pressure.
• Help patients with basic needs such as bathing, dressing, and feeding.
• Perform clerical duties, including routing patient reports as appropriate.
• Use organizational and prioritization skills to keep the unit running smoothly and meet deadlines.
• Provide assessment data to a certified nurse within the scope of practice, including vital signs and patients’ verbal and nonverbal responses.
• Report patient status and concerns to the RN.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
