About The Position

This position is responsible for providing quality patient care and adhering to regulatory and departmental policies and procedures. The CNA will assist nurses in patient care activities, ensure patient comfort and safety, and maintain a clean and organized environment. The role also involves active participation in team-oriented decision-making and a focus on customer satisfaction. Compliance with all hospital policies, safety standards, and regulatory requirements is essential.

Requirements

  • Current CNA certification.
  • Demonstrates ability to meet business needs of department with regular, reliable attendance.
  • Employee maintains current licenses and/or certifications required for the position.
  • Completes all annual education and competency requirements within the calendar year.
  • Is knowledgeable of hospital and department compliance requirements for federally funded healthcare programs (e.g. Medicare and Medicaid) regarding fraud, waste and abuse.
  • Takes appropriate action on concerns reported by department staff related to compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Answers call lights to determine patient needs and responds to patient questions.
  • Performs a.m. and p.m. cares including baths, dressing, undressing, oral care, and personal hygiene.
  • Prepares patients for meals, assists with meals, and feeds patients needing help.
  • Passes nourishments between meals.
  • Gives bedpans, urinals, and assists patients to commode or bathroom.
  • Ambulate patients, gives back rubs, exercises, repositions patients, and assists patients in and out of chairs and wheelchairs.
  • Transports patients to different areas.
  • Takes and records temperature, pulse, respiration rate, intake and output, and weights as directed.
  • Reports all unusual conditions or reactions to the nurse in charge.
  • Helps keep patient rooms neat, changes linens, runs errands, and directs visitors.
  • Assists in the care and maintenance of departmental equipment and supplies.
  • Actively participates in team-oriented decision making, demonstrating flexibility and openness to others' ideas.
  • Focuses a portion of daily work towards high customer satisfaction, aiming to meet or exceed customer expectations.
  • Performs other duties as directed by proper authority as indicated in an approved Hospital policy.
  • Assists in completion of hourly rounding and every two hour safety rounds.
  • May be required to perform Unit Clerk duties as described in the Unit Clerk job description.
  • Responsible for adhering to standard, goals, and procedures relating to the Compliance Program.
  • Adheres to hospital and department policies, procedures, objectives, safety, environmental, infection control, and quality improvement.
  • Maintains all required records, reports, statistics, etc.
  • Participates in educational programs and in-service meetings.
  • Follows all Hospital safety standards and participates in safety training.
  • Demonstrates Clarke County Hospital Standards of Behaviors.
  • Practices and reflects knowledge of HIPAA, DIA, DNV, OSHA, and other federal/state regulatory agencies guiding healthcare.
  • Completes all annual education and competency requirements within the calendar year.
