About The Position

Mountain View Hospital is looking for a CNA/MA/CMA to join our team! This role is responsible for assisting physicians with patient care, including both clerical and clinical duties. The position involves collecting and processing routine tests, returning results to the doctor, and providing excellent customer service to patients, doctors, and other medical staff. The role also includes performing CLIA waived moderate testing, handling patient referrals, managing charts, stocking rooms, reconciling labs, rooming patients, taking vitals and medical history, answering telephones, reviewing and assigning faxes, managing healthy connection referrals/eligibility, making collection calls, obtaining prior authorizations, checking patients in/out at the front desk, collecting pertinent information, processing payments, scanning, discharging patients, posting charges, some coding/billing, managing medical records, performing blood draws, and administering injections.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited Health Sciences program or higher.
  • Current BLS, PEARS/ACLS, Certification.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Drug screen/breath alcohol certified.
  • Valid CNA or CMA certificate/license.
  • Basic computer and typing skills.
  • Operate vital sign monitoring devices and manual BP equipment.
  • Ability to read and communicate effectively in English.
  • Understand medical terminology.
  • General Math skills.
  • Can frequently and consistently make sound judgments.
  • Must be organized, a multi-tasker, and a critical thinker.
  • Good communication skills, and ability to work well with others.
  • Team player and flexible.
  • Can work well under pressure and meet multiple and competing deadlines.
  • Good customer service skills.
  • Can recognize and understand the complexity and reflex-testing of laboratory complexity.

Nice To Haves

  • CNA, CMA course preferred but not required.
  • Phlebotomy course and phlebotomy experience.
  • Bilingual is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Assist physician with patient care, clerical and clinical.
  • Collect, process routine testing, and return results to the doctor.
  • Provide good customer service on the phone, to patients, doctors, and other medical staff.
  • Perform CLIA waived moderate testing.
  • Handle patient referrals, pull charts, file, clean/wrap instruments, stock rooms, reconcile labs, room patients, take vitals and history.
  • Answer telephones, review, and assign faxes.
  • Manage healthy connection referrals/eligibility, collection calls, and prior authorizations.
  • Check patients in/out at the front desk, collecting pertinent information.
  • Collect and process payments, scan, and discharge patients.
  • Post charges, perform some coding/billing, manage medical records, perform blood draws, and give injections.
  • Fulfill patient care responsibilities as assigned, including checking schedules, organizing patient flow, accompanying patients to exam/procedure rooms, assisting patients with walking/transfers, collecting specimens, preparing patients for exams, collecting patient history, performing screenings, assisting the physician with procedures, charting, and relaying instructions to patients.
  • Collect correct blood samples and other body fluids, ensuring proper patient identification and labeling of samples.
  • Follow hospital policies and procedures for transporting and delivering samples to the laboratory.
  • Handle laboratory supplies and stock supplies.
  • Ensure patients receive appropriate, competent, and quality clinical care and that customer service meets patient expectations.
  • Adhere to all hospital policies and procedures.
  • Provide age-appropriate care.
  • Report, monitor, and manage patient and staff incidents.
  • Monitor and manage patient and physician satisfaction results.
  • Follow standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
  • Perform sterile techniques.
  • Perform clerical responsibilities including sending/receiving patient medical records, obtaining lab/x-ray reports, hospital notes, referral information, completing forms/requisitions, scheduling appointments, verifying insurance coverage and patient demographics, and managing charts.
  • Perform facility responsibilities including setting up instruments and equipment, and cleaning exam/procedure rooms, instruments, and equipment.
  • Perform special tests such as clotting times, bleeding times, and glucose tolerance tests and report results.
  • Maintain Point of Care documents and perform Quality Control management.
  • Show good customer service on the phone and in person.
  • Complete CCM Roster on a monthly basis.
  • Stay current on CCM changes and requirements from CMS.
  • Act as a liaison between provider and patient for coordinating community resources, access to specialty services, and follow-up healthcare.
  • Follow up and help complete identified referrals.
  • Coordinate with specialists and help integrate recommendations.
  • Identify barriers for lack of follow-through or potential barriers to community resources.
