About The Position

This role combines the duties of a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) and a Health Unit Coordinator (HUC) within the Family Birth unit. The CNA provides basic nursing care and supports the nursing staff, ensuring patient comfort and safety. The HUC handles clerical tasks, manages patient records, and facilitates communication within the care team. This position requires adherence to Gritman Medical Center's philosophy and standards.

Requirements

  • Completion of an approved nursing assistant course.
  • Current Idaho Nursing Assistant certification in good standing.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Responsibilities

  • Provide basic nursing care to patients, including assistance with activities of daily living.
  • Support nursing staff in the development and implementation of patient care plans.
  • Ensure patient comfort and safety, adhering to Gritman Medical Center’s philosophy and standards.
  • Communicate effectively with the patient care team, reporting patient outcomes as appropriate.
  • Handle clerical tasks, such as answering phones, taking messages, transcribing physician orders, and entering them into the computer system.
  • Prepare and maintain patient medical records and manage office supplies for the unit.
  • Collaborate with the professional patient care staff, communicating relevant patient findings and care orders.
