This position assists the RN with the daily care of patients on the Family Care Unit, including bathing, oral hygiene, feeding, activity orders, and ambulation. The role involves measuring and documenting vital signs and patient data, accurately documenting in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR), and participating in patient admission, transfer, and discharge processes under RN supervision. The CNA/HUC ensures patient call lights are within reach and answers them promptly, performs purposeful rounding, and communicates observations to the RN. Responsibilities also include patient positioning and transporting, managing nutritional needs, maintaining skin integrity, and providing special patient supplies. The role involves collecting specimens, performing point-of-care testing, and potentially removing IVs, providing post-mortem care, and performing bladder scans. Additionally, the CNA/HUC practices infection prevention, coordinates tests and treatments with other departments, maintains knowledge of EHR and other computer systems, and processes daily patient charges. This role also facilitates communication, monitors department office equipment, and compiles necessary chart forms. The incumbent must demonstrate knowledge of age-specific care and principles of growth and development.
