About The Position

This is a full-time position primarily focused on Health Unit Coordinator duties with the flexibility to assist on the unit when needed. The role involves providing basic, quality patient-focused care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, adhering to state regulations. It also includes performing clerical and system coordination for nursing units, managing orders and schedules for diagnostic and therapeutic services, ensuring accurate and updated unit census and patient information, coordinating nursing unit communications, and acting as a receptionist. The position is for Unit 12S, an Oncology BM Transplant unit at Aurora St. Lukes Medical Center.

Requirements

  • Must be a CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant).
  • Must be an HUC (Health Unit Coordinator).
  • Ability to pick up hours and assist on the unit when needed.

Responsibilities

  • Provides basic, quality patient focused care in a clinical setting under the daily direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) in accordance with the standards of practice within guidelines of corresponding state regulations.
  • Performs clerical and system coordination for the nursing units and delegated tasks in a patient care setting that supports the environment of patient care and assures patients and families are treated in a holistic manner with dignity and respect.
  • Monitors and updates orders and schedules diagnostic and therapeutic services.
  • Ensures accuracy and frequent updates of unit census, patient information, and level of care.
  • Coordinates all nursing unit communications and activities.
  • Acts as a receptionist, greeting and/or directing patients, visitors, physicians, and other health care providers.
