This is a part-time position for a CNA/HUC in the Observation/Neuro Med Surg unit, specifically for a Weekend Program. The role involves assisting Registered Nurses (RNs) with direct patient care, including daily hygiene, feeding, and mobility. Responsibilities also include accurate documentation in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR), participating in patient admission, transfer, and discharge processes, and ensuring patient safety by responding promptly to call lights and performing purposeful rounding. The position requires performing patient positioning and transportation duties, assisting with nutritional needs, maintaining skin integrity, and managing special patient supplies. Additionally, the role involves collecting specimens, performing point-of-care testing, and potentially assisting with tasks like IV removal, post-mortem care, and bladder scans under RN direction. Infection prevention practices are crucial, including hand hygiene and knowledge of aseptic procedures. The role also supports coordination of tests and treatments, maintains knowledge of hospital systems for ordering supplies, processes patient charges, and facilitates communication via telephone and hospital information systems. Screening calls, monitoring office equipment, and compiling necessary chart forms are also part of the duties. Verifying patient demographic information and ensuring accurate registration in the medical record are essential. The position requires establishing positive customer relations and fostering a harmonious work environment, demonstrating proper phone etiquette and effective communication within the healthcare team. The incumbent must demonstrate knowledge and skills appropriate for the age of the patients served, understanding growth and development principles to assess and interpret patient status and provide age-specific care.
