About The Position

Amedisys is hiring a full-time hospice aide for day shifts. The role provides personal and supportive care to hospice patients in their homes, helping them remain comfortable. The position follows written personal-care instructions prepared by a registered nurse and the patient’s plan of care.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Current state certification or registration as a nurse assistant, as required by state certification or registration requirements.
CNA experience within the last two years.
Current CPR certification.
Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and liability insurance.

Responsibilities

Provide personal care services to patients.
Use safety principles and proper body mechanics when assisting with ambulation, transfers, range of motion, positioning, and household chores.
Plan and prepare nutritious meals and assist with feeding as assigned.
Perform homemaking and other environmental services as assigned.
Observe, report, and document changes in a patient’s status; report to the primary nurse if unable to perform a task.
Follow written personal-care instructions prepared by a registered nurse in accordance with the plan of care, received before providing services.
Assist patients with prescribed exercises as instructed by a nurse or therapist.
Perform and record simple urine tests for sugar, acetone, and albumin.
Perform other duties as assigned.
