About The Position

As an Amedisys hospice aide, you provide personal and supportive care to patients in their homes. You follow written personal-care instructions prepared by a registered nurse in accordance with the plan of care, and report patient-status changes or any task you are unable to perform to the primary nurse. The role is full-time, day shift. Compensation is $16.00–$17.00 per hour and may vary based on location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Current state certification or registration as a nurse assistant, as required by state certification or registration requirements.
• CNA experience within the last two years.
• Current CPR certification.
• Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and liability insurance.

Responsibilities

• Provide personal care services to patients.
• Apply safety principles and proper body mechanics when assisting with ambulation, transfers, range of motion, positioning, and household chores.
• Plan and prepare nutritious meals and assist with feeding as assigned.
• Perform homemaking and other environmental services as assigned.
• Observe, report, and document changes in a patient's status; report to the primary nurse if unable to perform a task.
• Follow specific written personal-care instructions prepared by a registered nurse in accordance with the plan of care; receive written instructions before providing services.
• Assist patients with prescribed exercises as instructed by a nurse or therapist.
• Perform and record simple urine tests for sugar, acetone, and albumin.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
