This is a full-time position for a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) in the Cardiac Neuro unit, specifically on the 2nd Floor Cardiac Neuro unit. The role involves assisting Registered Nurses (RNs) with the daily care of patients, including bathing, oral hygiene, feeding, and ambulation. The CNA will also be responsible for measuring and documenting vital signs, intake and output, and daily weights, as well as accurately documenting patient information in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR). The position requires active participation in purposeful rounding, assisting with patient admissions, transfers, and discharges, and ensuring patient call lights are always within reach and answered promptly. The CNA will collect specimens, perform point-of-care testing, and maintain competency as required. Additionally, the role involves completing errands, maintaining stock for the nursing area, cleaning equipment, and performing patient positioning and transporting duties that require physical exertion. The CNA will also assist with nutritional needs and skin integrity maintenance. Depending on site/unit requirements and under RN direction, tasks may include removing IVs, providing post-mortem care, and performing bladder scans. Practice within infection prevention policies, including hand hygiene and knowledge of sterile and aseptic procedures, is essential. The CNA must demonstrate knowledge and skills appropriate for the age of the patients served, understanding principles of growth and development and assessing patient status based on age-specific needs.
