The Patient Care Technician/Certified Nursing Assistant (PCT/CNA) provides appropriate safe basic care to patients which includes taking vital signs, assisting patients with activities of daily living, specimen collection, and observation of patients for physical/emotional changes. Other duties include recording pertinent information in patient charts, communicating with other Patient Care Team members to ensure continuity of care, and may function in a role providing constant supervision to patients as needed. Duties may vary according to department expectations and needs. The Adult Medical Specialty Unit (AMSU) is located on the 2nd and 3rd floors of the Forest Park building. It consists of two independently functioning units that operate as one department, serving the adult med-surg patient population. Patients on these units have a variety of diagnoses, offering a broad range of clinical experiences in a fast-paced and challenging environment.
