About The Position
The 5th Floor Acute Care Neuro Trauma Unit at St. Anthony Hospital is a 36-bed unit specializing in neuro, trauma, and ortho. This department is the main service line for patients needing the care a Level 1 Trauma Center provides. Patients are from all age groups (usually 16 years and above) with occasional overflow of general med/surg patients. The unit has a strong culture of teamwork where they pride themselves on delivering high quality, safe patient care. The team is a committed, caring group of colleagues who have a passion for creating positive patient interactions. The medical surgical unit lends itself to developing great relationships with coworkers and working together to provide excellent patient care. A good candidate for the 5th floor would be someone who prides themselves in being a team player, has a positive attitude, open communication skills, is hard-working, dedicated, and accountable. It is a great starting point for someone interested in a future in Critical Care. St. Anthony Hospital is a Level I Trauma Center located in Lakewood, Colorado, providing a full range of medical specialties and health care services to Denver and the surrounding region through its state-of-the-art medical campus and home base for Flight For Life® Colorado. With four trauma rooms including the T-10 room, a dedicated field-to-surgery suite ready 24/7 for trauma surgeons and specially trained teams, the staff can provide life-saving care to the most severely ill and injured patients. Requirements
- High School Diploma/G.E.D.
- Graduate of a Nursing Assistant Program
- State registered CNA license
- Current BLS through the American Heart Association
Nice To Haves
- Six (6) months previous CNA or healthcare experience.
Responsibilities
- Provides quality patient care, including comfort and hygiene measures, preventative skin care, safety measures, transport, and nutritional and elimination needs.
- Promptly answers call lights and responds to patient needs.
- Reports patient status changes and needs to Registered Nurse accurately and in a timely manner.
- Accurately documents vital signs, input/output, nutritional intake, personal hygiene, weights, and other patient care performed and reports findings promptly to Registered Nurse.
- Maintains thorough and confidential maintenance of patient charts and records.
- Assists with safe and appropriate delegated patient care tasks which are directly supervised by the nurse.
- Provides person-centered care with sensitivity and respect for the human experience in a collaborative fashion with other team members.
- Communicates concerns regarding hazards or errors related to patients to the health care team.
