About The Position

North Oaks Communities LLC is seeking a CNA-1 (formerly known as GNA) who wants to make a difference in the lives of seniors every day. The CNA-1 assists the licensed nursing staff by performing routine nursing duties and assisting residents in activities of daily living.

Requirements

  • Successful completion of a Board-approved nursing assistant competency evaluation, of a Maryland Board-approved nursing assistant training program or acute care nursing assistant training program that meets the curriculum approved by the Board, including passing the Maryland Board-approved nursing assistant competency evaluation.
  • Registration as a CNA-1 with the State of Maryland Board of Nursing registry in good standing.
  • Current CPR certification with a hands-on component.
  • First Aid certification required or ability to complete certification upon hire.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Possess a positive and professional attitude.
  • Ability to work well in a team-orientated environment.
  • Ability to remain calm and patient when dealing with residents.
  • Ability to listen attentively is essential.
  • Ability to problem solve and work well under pressure.
  • A willingness to navigate changes in assignments.
  • Ability to show empathy and compassion while interacting with residents.
  • Ability to understand and follow instructions in English, communicate effectively, and perform simple arithmetic.
  • Ability to document care given.
  • Compliance with North Oaks Immunization requirements.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior long term care experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assists residents with personal care, including but not limited to dressing, grooming, shaving, incontinent care, oral care, eating, bathing, positioning, turning, toileting, exercising, ambulating, and other basic needs.
  • Performs vital signs as directed.
  • Observes and reports changes in resident’s behavior, emotional state, or physical condition.
  • Provide companionship to residents as needed.
  • Ensure the safety of residents.
  • Provides direct resident care in accordance with nursing standards and facility protocols.
  • Accurately and timely documents services provided in EMR/HER systems and according to facility protocol.
  • Gives treatments, performs tests, carries out procedures and collects specimens as instructed.
  • Reports and records observations and results of treatments, tests, procedures and specimens when indicated.
  • Transfers, transports, and escorts residents as needed.
  • Assists with activities as planned and/or directed.
  • Responds to call lights and emergencies in a timely manner.
  • Changes bed linens, makes beds and keeps rooms clean and orderly.
  • Makes careful and efficient use of supplies, linen, and equipment.
  • Observes infection control and consistently practices standard and transmission-based precautions.
  • Maintains a clean and safe resident unit.
  • Observes all safety rules and regulations.
  • HIPAA Compliance – follows written policies and procedures to ensure confidentiality of protected health information.
  • OIG Compliance – follows written policies and procedures to comply with the federal and state laws and regulations.
  • Interacts with residents and coworkers in a friendly and respectful manner.
  • Completes other duties and projects as assigned.
  • Maintains safe and sanitary workstations and equipment.
  • Encourages independence of residents, attendance at activities, restorative programs and rehabilitation.
  • Attends in-service training and education sessions as assigned.
  • Performs specific work duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.
