About The Position

NOVA Engineering & Environmental is hiring a CMT Laboratory Technician in Fort Myers, Florida. This position will be primarily laboratory‑based, performing quality assurance and quality control testing of construction materials in accordance with FDOT, ASTM, AASHTO, and project‑specific requirements, with occasional field testing support as needed. The ideal candidate will have experience working in a construction materials testing (CMT) laboratory, with ACI and FDOT CTQP laboratory certifications strongly preferred. Candidates with additional field-testing certifications are encouraged to apply.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 1–3 years of Construction Materials Testing (CMT) experience, with an emphasis on laboratory testing
  • Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, and testing standards
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Valid Florida driver’s license with a clean driving record
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in laboratory and occasional field environments
  • Two (2) or more of the following certifications are required: ACI Concrete Strength Testing Technician ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician – Grade I ACI Aggregate Base Testing Technician FDOT CTQP Qualified Sampler FDOT CTQP Aggregate Testing Technician FDOT CTQP Aggregate Base Technician FDOT CTQP Limerock Bearing Ratio (LBR) Technician FDOT CTQP Asphalt Mix Design Technician FDOT CTQP Asphalt Plant – Level I or II

Responsibilities

  • Perform laboratory testing of construction materials, including soils, aggregates, concrete, asphalt, and related materials
  • Conduct testing in accordance with FDOT CTQP, ASTM, and project specifications
  • Prepare and maintain accurate laboratory test records, reports, and documentation
  • Assist with sample preparation, handling, and storage
  • Support quality control (QC) and quality assurance (QA) programs for FDOT and commercial construction projects
  • Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and field staff to support project schedules
  • Maintain laboratory equipment, calibration records, and housekeeping standards
  • Provide occasional field testing and sampling support when required (density testing, concrete sampling, etc.)
