About The Position

NOVA Engineering & Environmental is seeking a CMT Engineering Technician to join our Norcross, GA office. This is a primarily field-based role, responsible for performing on-site testing and inspection of construction materials to support a wide range of commercial, municipal, and infrastructure projects. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working outdoors, being hands-on at active construction sites, and playing a critical role in ensuring quality and compliance throughout the construction process.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent
Experience in construction materials testing (CMT), inspections, or construction fieldwork preferred
Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications
Strong attention to detail and communication skills
Comfortable working outdoors on active construction sites in varying weather conditions
Ability to lift 50 lbs and stand/walk for extended periods
Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record

Nice To Haves

Associate degree in engineering technology or related field preferred
ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician – Level I (highly preferred)
ICC Certifications (preferred but not required): Soils, Reinforced Concrete, Structural Masonry
Nuclear Density Gauge

Responsibilities

Perform field testing and inspection of construction materials, including: Soil compaction testing, Concrete sampling, testing, and placement inspections; Asphalt density testing; and Reinforcing steel inspections
Monitor construction activities to ensure compliance with project specifications, codes, and standards
Communicate field observations and test results to project managers, contractors, and clients
Prepare and submit clear, timely, and accurate field reports
Assist with site safety efforts and adhere to all company and project safety requirements
Maintain, transport, and operate field testing equipment
