About The Position

The Cahuilla Shuttle Program is launching its first year of service. The Shuttle Bus Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing the planning, coordination, and daily operations of the Cahuilla Shuttle Service. This role ensures safe, reliable, and efficient transportation for Cahuilla Tribal Members and nearby communities. The Manager will manage staff, scheduling, compliance, reporting, and budget oversight in alignment with CMO (clean mobility options) grant requirements.

Requirements

  • Experience in transportation management, public transit, fleet operations, or similar fields.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to adapt to program growth, shifting priorities, and evolving service needs.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse community members, including elders and individuals with disabilities.
  • Valid California driver’s license.
  • Successfully pass background investigation and live scan fingerprinting.
  • Clean Driving record.
  • Clearance must meet eligibility under Cahuilla Band of Indians Vehicle Insurance.
  • Pre-employment Drug Screening.

Nice To Haves

  • BS degree in public administration, project management, or related field is preferred; not required. Experience in lieu of education may be accepted.
  • Job-related certifications or trade licenses are preferred.
  • Knowledge of DOT/DMV rules, ADA requirements, and transit safety standards preferred.
  • Experience working within grant-funded programs is highly preferred.
  • Familiarity with the local geography and community is a plus.
  • Class B with passenger endorsement preferred. Ability obtain while employed may be requested of applicant.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day shuttle operations, including scheduling routes, coordinating driver assignments, and ensuring on-time service.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable safety, regulatory, and grant funding requirements.
  • Supervise, support, and evaluate shuttle drivers, including conducting periodic ride checks.
  • Manage operational budgets in line with CMO funding guidelines; track and report expenditures.
  • Maintain accurate records and prepare regular performance and compliance reports to the CMO agency.
  • Coordinate vehicle maintenance, inspections, and repairs to ensure safety and reliability.
  • Develop and implement operational policies, procedures, and rider guidelines.
  • Assist with community outreach to promote shuttle usage and gather rider feedback.
  • Other duties as assigned.
