About The Position

Assures that products, tooling and processes produced at Orion Casting are in compliance with customer and internal requirements and specifications. Works effectively with engineers, inspectors, supervisors and production associates to resolve quality issues, achieve team objectives and promote quality principles. Heavy emphasis will be placed on program development, validation, first article part layout and CMM inspection to qualify new or revised tooling and/or parts. Work is project-oriented, and you may be working on a number of projects at any given time. Work will be performed with minimal supervision.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of a specialized field (however acquired), such as basic accounting, computer, etc.
  • Equivalent of four years in high school, plus night, trade extension, or correspondence school specialized training, equal to two years of college, plus 19 to 23 months related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge of the following software is key: PC-DMIS Zeiss
  • Successfully complete software training: PC-DMIS Level 1 - 40 hrs. Level 2 - 40 hrs. Level 3 - 40 hrs. Zeiss Level 1 - 40 hrs. Level 2 - 40 hrs.
  • Program/Operate these CMM machines: Sheffield/Cordax 1808 DCC Cordax R5-50 DCC Endeavor Zeiss Accura DuraMax Contura G2 Hexagon Metrology Advantage Global Renishaw Equator 300
  • Ability to interact with all levels of the organization, from production associates to senior leaders.
  • Ability to function as a team player, and be comfortable leading without authority.
  • Ability to build credibility and trust.
  • Ability to influence leaders, and change their paradigms.
  • Must be proficient with the use of the Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint) and Minitab statistical analysis software.

Responsibilities

  • Write programs from Customer Prints and Models that allow for completing quality checks on CMM equipment for given part numbers.
  • Performance maintenance and qualification on equipment stylists.
  • Trouble-shoot programs as necessary to ensure accuracy of part testing.
  • Analyze data and provide assessments on specific issues with parts to Engineers, as necessary.
  • Conduct Capability Studies on new products as part of the PPAP process.
  • Calibrate gauges as applicable (Micrometer, Go/NoGo).
  • Effectively communicate capability concerns with Process and Product Engineers.
  • Effectively communicate with customers concerning various quality and capability concerns with their product, as applicable.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in programming all software. (PC-DMIS, Zeiss, Renishaw).
  • Maintain good working relationship w/ Engineers and Managers.
  • Must follow all EHS (Environmental, Health and Safety) and Quality policies and procedures as set forth by the Orion Casting management systems as well as Federal and State regulations.
  • Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.
