About The Position

Responsible for programming and operating a coordinated measurement machine to perform complex geometric dimensional inspections on first pieces, in-process, and finished products to ensure compliance to customer and print specifications. Provide the necessary support to engineering and production to achieve the desired optimal quality outcome.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience as a CMM Programmer using Calypso and PCDMIS software with 2 years’ experience as a quality inspector.
  • Strong manufacturing background in job shop and a dream to work with quality, engineering, and operations on the shop floor.
  • Must be able to use a wide range of measurement devices such as optical comparators, indicators, micrometers, verniers, threaded and straight pug gages, pitch micrometers, CMM, etc.
  • Must be able to read and interpret mechanical drawings, specifications and inspection instructions and determine product conformance based on such documents.
  • Ability to identify different materials and their relationship to design (form, fit, and function).
  • Thoroughly understands how to read and interpret Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) callouts on part prints to effectively run quality parts.
  • Must be adaptable to a changing environment, completing demands and is able to deal well with frequent change, delays, or unexpected events.
  • Advanced mathematical abilities include knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus, statistics, and their applications.
  • Critical thinking and advanced decision-making skills.
  • Computer literate in Microsoft office products and QMS.
  • Ability to read, comprehend, follow, and document work instructions, blueprints, routers, and standard operating procedures.
  • Ability to communicate and interact effectively, professionally, and constructively.
  • Comply with and maintain 5S and safe work environment practices.
  • Minimum of 2 years in ISO/FDA machine shop, contract manufacturer experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Experienced in a medical device, ISO/FDA, job shop environment preferred.
  • Technical degree and/or Quality Certification preferred.
  • Will accept High School Diploma, GED, Trade School, or equivalent work experience.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, edit, and implement existing programs using Zeiss Calypso software from 3D solid-models and 2D drawings as per requirements.
  • Write, edit, and maintain CMM programs based on customer/company specifications in a fast-paced environment.
  • Write the inspection instructions for engineering and quality assurance approval per applicable quality plans and customer specifications.
  • Maintain and improve library programs to maintain current drawing revisions.
  • Create, maintain, and follow secure and accessible CMM program folder and file structures.
  • Optimize programs and processes to maximize productivity and quality to eliminate scrap.
  • Work closely and assist CMM operators on best practices with both machine operation and quality inspection methods.
  • Lead in training of CMM users to improve equipment reliability and operator level of knowledge.
  • Support the operators in troubleshooting daily issues with CMMs on the shop floor.
  • Program and run Vision/Laser/Touch Probe systems. Develop inspection routines and methods including concepts for fixtures and gages.
  • Interpret blueprints and specifications related to geometric tolerancing, gauging, statistical requirements, control plan and other customer/internal requirements.
  • Inspect the first article parts, in-process and final inspection on assemblies, and materials for workmanship and conformance to the specifications, drawings.
  • Investigate the floor rejects for root cause and corrective action.
  • Participate in the material review activities to determine nonconforming product dispositions and corrective actions.
  • Design and develop part fixture for proper measuring setup with instruction from senior programmer.
  • Responsible for meeting 21 CFR 820 & ISO 13485 requirements and providing an atmosphere and direction for continuous improvement.
  • Willingness to learn new technologies and machine/equipment applications.
  • Always maintain acceptable housekeeping standards to ensure a safe and productive work environment for all employees.

  • Demonstrate regular and consistent attendance and punctuality. Work overtime as required.
