About The Position

Longenecker & Associates (L&A), a Geosyntec Company, is seeking a motivated CMM Programmer to contribute to their mission supporting work at Centrus Energy in Oak Ridge, TN. Geosyntec is an international engineering and consulting firm known for its technical leadership and client service. L&A has been a trusted partner for the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) complex for over 35 years, providing high-caliber staff for nuclear security and environmental remediation. This role is crucial for ensuring manufactured products meet specified standards through accurate and reliable measurement systems.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in a related field (additional experience can be considered in lieu of education).
  • Minimum of five years of experience in CMM programming and dimensional inspection.
  • Hands-on CMM experience.
  • Strong understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) per ANSI Y14.5.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to prioritize projects to meet completion dates.
  • Ability to execute tasks assigned with minimum supervision.
  • Strong computer software skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products.
  • Must be able to successfully pass a federal background investigation to secure and maintain DOE Q security clearance if required.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Must comply with Federal drug-free workplace rules, which prohibit marijuana use.

Nice To Haves

  • Active DOE Q Clearance.
  • Experience in Aerospace, Medical, or Defense Manufacturing.
  • Programming and operation experience using Zeiss Calypso software and CMMs.
  • Experience programming optical CMMs (ViScan preferred).
  • Modeling experience with Creo or other software.

Responsibilities

  • Create, modify, validate, and maintain Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) programs for production components and calibration of tooling.
  • Design and develop CMM fixtures/work holding.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing), and CAD Models.
  • Work with quality engineering to perform Gauge R&R, capability studies, correlations, and RCCA (Root Cause Corrective Action) activity.
  • Troubleshoot CMM programs, probes, fixtures, and measurement issues.
  • Establish and oversee weekly and daily maintenance of CMM instruments.
  • Track CMM performance to ensure calibration is accurate.
  • Train technicians and operators on program setup and execution.
