About The Position

The CMM Programmer / CMM Operator is responsible for developing, maintaining, and executing Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) inspection programs to verify product conformance to engineering drawings, customer specifications, and quality standards. This position combines programming and hands-on operation responsibilities, supporting production, first article inspections, in-process inspections, and final inspections during the 2nd shift. The ideal candidate will possess strong metrology knowledge, GD&T expertise, and experience with CMM software and inspection equipment. 2nd shift: 3PM - 11:30PM

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 3+ years of experience operating CMM equipment in a manufacturing environment.
  • 2+ years of experience programming CMMs.
  • Proficiency with CMM programming software (PC-DMIS preferred).
  • Strong understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and CAD models.
  • Experience using precision measuring instruments including calipers, micrometers, height gauges, bore gauges, and comparators.
  • Strong computer and data analysis skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree or technical certification in Quality, Manufacturing, Engineering Technology, or related field.
  • Aerospace, automotive, medical device, or precision machining industry experience.
  • Experience with CAD software such as SolidWorks, NX, CATIA, or Creo.
  • ASQ Certified Quality Technician (CQT) or similar certification.
  • Experience with quality management systems (ISO 9001, AS9100, IATF 16949).

Responsibilities

  • Develop, validate, and optimize CMM programs using software such as PC-DMIS, Polyworks, Camio, or equivalent.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, CAD models, specifications, and customer requirements to create inspection routines.
  • Generate inspection reports and documentation to support production and customer requirements.
  • Modify existing programs to improve efficiency, accuracy, and throughput.
  • Troubleshoot programming issues and resolve measurement discrepancies.
  • Set up and operate CMM equipment to perform dimensional inspections on machined, fabricated, and assembled components.
  • Execute first article, in-process, final, and receiving inspections as required.
  • Verify inspection equipment calibration status and maintain proper records.
  • Review inspection results and communicate nonconformance findings to Quality, Engineering, and Production teams.
  • Ensure accurate data collection and entry into quality management systems.
  • Interpret and apply GD&T per ASME Y14.5 standards.
  • Assist with root cause investigations and corrective actions related to dimensional nonconformances.
  • Support internal audits, customer audits, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Recommend process improvements to increase inspection efficiency and product quality.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in accordance with company policies.
