About The Position

This role involves preparing, measuring, organizing, recording, and reporting on projects. The CMM Operator/Programmer will assist in preparing PPAP for customer approval and support Product Engineering in evaluating prototype metals and molded parts. This position requires communication with suppliers regarding dimensional characteristics showing trends of instability, supporting the tool room with measurements of reworked or modified molds/cavities, and assisting production with capability studies on current production parts. The role also includes measuring and preparing written reports on new samples from suppliers. Other duties may be assigned.

Requirements

  • Good interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate with Quality, Continuous Process Improvement, Product engineering, and other plant and office personnel.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Good computer skills with a working knowledge of geometric tolerances, SPC, SAE handbook usage, gage control programs, and quality control procedure.
  • Understand how to prepare, measure, organize, record and report on projects being measured in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and process several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Must be able to assess reasonableness of the analysis performed.
  • Valid Driver’s License and possible Hi-lo License.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, measure, organize, record and report on projects being measured.
  • Assist in preparing PPAP for customer approval.
  • Assist Product Engineering in the evaluation of prototype metals and molded parts.
  • Communicate with suppliers on dimensional characteristics which are showing trends of instability.
  • Support tool room on measurements of all molds or cavities, which have been reworked or modified in any manner.
  • Support production by measuring and preparing ongoing capability studies on current production parts.
  • Measure and prepare written reports on all new samples received from our suppliers.
  • Other duties as assigned.
