About The Position

Under general supervision and according to established procedures, the CMA provides basic medical assistance to physicians/providers and nurses. Duties include preparing patients according to area-specific policies and procedures, including taking vital signs, preparing charts, performing phlebotomy, assisting with procedures, and collecting lab samples. The role uses department-specific computer systems to enter and retrieve patient data. The position is associated with St. Joseph’s Health’s Totowa Health Campus, a 140,000-square-foot outpatient facility offering services including primary and urgent care, diagnostic imaging, radiology, lab services, pharmacy, physician offices, and specialty centers.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Less than one year of previous work-related experience.
Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program.
Current certification or registration from an accredited institution, such as AAMA, NHA, or AMT, which must be maintained.
