About The Position

Performs basic nursing skills and/or serves under the direction and supervision of the practice physician, advanced practice professional, and/or registered nursing staff. The role involves preparing patients and exam rooms, assisting with examinations and procedures, supporting appointment and referral coordination, educating patients about follow-up expectations, and maintaining relevant logs and equipment. The position is based at CCMC Camden Clark Medical Center, Cost Center 8938 CCMC General Surgery Southgate, at 2107 Pike Street, Parkersburg, West Virginia. Scheduled weekly hours are 40.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Obtain Basic Life Support certification within 30 days of hire.
• Current national certification as a Certified Medical Assistant.
• Ability to effectively communicate with staff and patients.
• Ability to adapt to changing environments.
• Ability to use and learn software applications.
• Ability to organize and prioritize work.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to exert up to 50 pounds occasionally, up to 20 pounds frequently, and up to 10 pounds constantly.
• Ability to bend, stoop, reach, rotate normally, and stand and walk for an 8–12 hour shift.

Nice To Haves

• Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant Program.
• One year of healthcare experience.

Responsibilities

• Greet and escort patients to exam rooms; prepare for provider visits by obtaining initial information and vital signs.
• Prepare exam rooms for patients, ensuring cleanliness and availability of supplies.
• Assist with and/or perform examinations, tests, and procedures.
• Schedule appointments and establish referral contacts as needed.
• Assist the provider during patient examinations and procedures.
• Educate patients on follow-up expectations.
• Maintain quality control testing logs as required.
• Ensure medical equipment is in proper working condition.
• Assist patients with completing medical documentation.
