About The Position

Shawnee Health is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for its OBGYN clinics, rotating between Carbondale and Marion. The position reports directly to the Nurse Manager. In addition to normal CMA/LPN duties, the role supports providers and patients throughout clinic visits, follows clinic procedures for medications and immunizations, prepares and maintains exam rooms, documents patient information in the EHR, performs point-of-care testing, and reports qualifying diseases to the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH).

Requirements

Have a valid Illinois driver’s license and auto liability insurance on personal vehicles.
Hold a valid Illinois nursing license to practice as an LPN or be certified as a Medical Assistant.

Responsibilities

Communicate with the supervisor and other team members during the workday to meet patient needs.
Follow clinic policies and procedures for medication and immunization administration, sign-out, reconciliation, and inventory management.
Assist providers by chaperoning intimate exams and helping with office procedures.
Prepare exam rooms by setting up needed equipment, and maintain a clean, organized, efficient, and confidential work area.
Greet patients, escort them to exam rooms, and verify their names and dates of birth.
Obtain vital signs, height and weight, and allergies; complete medication reconciliation and review of systems; update immunizations; document relevant information using the appropriate EHR workflow for the visit type; and alert the provider to concerns.
Perform point-of-care testing.
Document reportable diseases to IDPH in a timely manner.
