About The Position

The Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) performs multi-skilled activities to support a decentralized patient-centered approach to patient care and achieve desired outcomes, under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse. The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) is responsible for quality patient care under the direction of a physician or licensed healthcare provider in a clinical practice. Duties include rooming patients, taking vitals and health history, documenting in an electronic medical record, giving injections, and assisting with minor procedures.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Completion of an accredited medical assisting program with one year of patient care experience preferred (for CMA)
  • Graduation from a recognized Licensed Practical Nursing program and licensed as an LPN within the state of South Carolina or a compact state (for LPN)
  • One year of LPN experience preferred
  • Basic computer skills required
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required (AHA or equivalent)
  • Must be certified through the American Medical Technologists (AMT) or American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) or National Health career Association (NHA) or MedCA as a Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA), Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), or National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP) (for CMA)
  • Licensed as an LPN within the state of South Carolina or a compact state (for LPN)
  • Ability to understand and implement a variety of detailed instructions in the execution of therapeutic procedures
  • Ability to make accurate physical observation of patients
  • Considerable knowledge of basic medical terminology and human anatomy
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to perform job functions while standing (Continuous)

  • Good peripheral vision capabilities (Continuous)
  • Ability to maintain hearing acuity, with correction (Continuous)
  • Ability to perform gross motor functions with frequent fine motor movements (Continuous)
  • Ability to deal effectively with stressful situations (Continuous)
  • Ability to work in a latex safe environment (Continuous)
  • Ability to maintain tactile sensory functions (Continuous)
  • Ability to be qualified physically for respirator use, initially and as required (Selected Positions)

Nice To Haves
