About The Position

This role is for a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) within the Transplant & Nephrology Clinic. The CMA, under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, performs patient care activities to support a patient-centered approach. The LPN is responsible for quality patient care under the direction of a physician or licensed healthcare provider, including rooming patients, taking vitals and health history, documenting in an electronic medical record, giving injections, and assisting with minor procedures.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent (CMA).
  • Completion of an accredited medical assisting program with one year of patient care experience preferred (CMA).
  • Basic computer skills required (CMA).
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required (CMA & LPN).
  • Ability to understand and implement a variety of detailed instructions in the execution of therapeutic procedures (CMA).
  • Ability to make accurate physical observation of patients (CMA).
  • Knowledge of basic medical terminology and human anatomy (CMA).
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing (CMA).
  • Graduation from a recognized Licensed Practical Nursing program (LPN).
  • Licensed as an LPN within the state of South Carolina or a compact state (LPN).
  • One year of LPN experience preferred (LPN).
  • Must be certified through the American Medical Technologist (AMT) or American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) or National Health career Association (NHA) or MedCA as a Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA), Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), or National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP) (CMA).

  • Ability to maintain 20/40 vision, corrected, in one eye or with both eyes (Continuous).
  • Ability to see and recognize objects close at hand or at a distance (Continuous).
  • Ability to match or discriminate between colors (Continuous).
  • Ability to determine distance/relationship between objects; depth perception (Continuous).
  • Good peripheral vision capabilities (Continuous).
  • Ability to maintain hearing acuity, with correction (Continuous).
  • Ability to perform gross motor functions with frequent fine motor movements (Continuous).
  • Ability to deal effectively with stressful situations (Continuous).
  • Ability to work in a latex safe environment (Continuous).
  • Ability to maintain tactile sensory functions (Continuous).
  • Ability to be qualified physically for respirator use, initially and as required (Continuous).
