About The Position

Asphalt Green Volleyball Club is seeking experienced and motivated Club Volleyball Head Coaches for the 2026–2027 club season. The Head Coach is responsible for leading one volleyball team of approximately 12 athletes from September through May/June. This role carries primary responsibility for team training, match preparation, tournament performance, player development, family communication, and team culture. The Head Coach works alongside at least one Assistant Coach and serves as the team’s main liaison with Volleyball Club leadership. This role is a strong fit for a coach who can lead with structure, communicate clearly, develop athletes, and build a competitive and cohesive team environment. The Head Coach plays a key role in shaping the athlete experience within Asphalt Green Volleyball Club. Strong coaching helps athletes improve their volleyball skills, build confidence, understand team accountability, and grow through competitive play. This role is not only about running practices and attending tournaments. It requires leadership, planning, communication, consistency, and the ability to create a positive but competitive team culture where athletes are challenged, supported, and prepared to perform.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Prior coaching experience at the club, high school, or collegiate level.
  • Experience playing volleyball at a competitive level, such as club, high school, or collegiate volleyball.
  • Strong volleyball knowledge, including technical instruction, team systems, and game strategy.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills.
  • Ability to foster a positive, competitive, and team-centered culture.
  • Ability to lead practices, matches, and tournaments.
  • Ability to manage and guide Assistant Coaches.
  • Availability for a minimum of three scheduled tryout days in August 2026.
  • Availability for weekday evening practices, Saturday training blocks, and select weekend tournaments from January through May/June.
  • Ability to complete USAV/GEVA-mandated certifications, including SafeSport and IMPACT training.
  • Ability to perform the physical requirements of the role with or without reasonable accommodation.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience coaching competitive club volleyball.
  • Experience coaching athletes in the same age group or competitive level assigned.
  • Experience developing seasonal practice plans and player development goals.
  • Experience communicating with families in a youth sports environment.
  • Experience supervising or mentoring Assistant Coaches.
  • Familiarity with USAV, GEVA, club volleyball, tournaments, and competitive volleyball standards.
  • CPR/AED and First Aid certification.
  • Bilingual or multilingual language skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead one club volleyball team of approximately 12 athletes for the 2026–2027 season.
  • Plan and lead team practices, matches, and tournaments.
  • Provide technical instruction and tactical feedback to support player growth.
  • Teach skills, strategy, positioning, teamwork, communication, and game awareness.
  • Create a positive, competitive, and development-focused team culture.
  • Support athletes in building confidence, discipline, sportsmanship, and accountability.
  • Adjust coaching approach based on athlete skill level, team needs, and seasonal goals.
  • Prepare structured practice plans aligned with team goals and player development needs.
  • Lead weekday evening practices and Saturday training blocks.
  • Coach assigned matches and tournaments during the season.
  • Prepare athletes for competition through skill development, tactical instruction, and team systems.
  • Use match and practice observations to guide feedback and future training plans.
  • Maintain high expectations for effort, preparation, teamwork, and conduct.
  • Work closely with at least one Assistant Coach assigned to the team.
  • Manage Assistant Coaches to ensure consistent team messaging, expectations, and accountability.
  • Provide direction to Assistant Coaches during practices, matches, and tournaments.
  • Communicate professionally with players and families regarding schedules, goals, expectations, and progress.
  • Serve as the team’s main liaison with Volleyball Club leadership.
  • Share updates, concerns, needs, and team progress with club leadership as needed.
  • Attend tryouts in August, with a minimum availability of three scheduled tryout days.
  • Collaborate with club leadership on seasonal objectives and development plans.
  • Attend monthly coaching development sessions led by club staff.
  • Complete required USAV/GEVA certifications and trainings, including SafeSport and IMPACT training.
  • Follow Asphalt Green, Volleyball Club, USAV, and GEVA expectations, policies, and safety standards.
  • Represent Asphalt Green professionally with athletes, families, officials, coaches, and tournament staff.
  • Provide athlete supervision and maintain appropriate team standards and conduct throughout tournament travel, hotel stays and competition.
  • Coordinate with program leadership regarding hotel accommodations, tournament schedules, arrival/departure times, and other tournament logistics.
  • Ensure athletes are prepared and present for scheduled matches, meetings and other required team activities.
  • Maintain appropriate athlete supervision, sportsmanship, and professional conduct throughout the event.
