About The Position

The Club Custodian Lead (CCL) is part of the club’s leadership team and helps maintain a clean, safe, and well-maintained environment for members. The role supports the In-Shape Member Experience by monitoring cleanliness, safety, and maintenance standards while interacting positively and professionally with staff, members, prospective members, and guests. It offers an opportunity to begin a leadership career in the fitness industry. The CCL leads and develops Club Custodian team members, supports scheduling and coverage, monitors housekeeping operations, reviews cleaning procedures and records, and coordinates supply inventory with club management. The role also performs custodial work, helps maintain club amenities, and may monitor bodies of water during the season where applicable.

Requirements

Basic fitness experience and a passion for fitness.
Effectively communicate in English, verbally and in writing.
Ability to lead, coach, and mentor team members to achieve high standards of cleanliness, safety, and member service.
Knowledge of cleaning chemicals.
Flexible and positive attitude in meeting and exceeding member expectations.
Ability to work well under pressure and time constraints and display positive behavior in member interactions.
Willingness and ability to work a flexible shift, including overnight, weekends, and holidays.
Current CPR certification or ability to pass CPR certification within the first 30 days of hire.
First Aid Training is required only at clubs with Pool Slides.

Responsibilities

Maintain a safe environment by correctly implementing safety policies and procedures.
Use specialized tools to perform deep cleaning and disinfection duties.
Follow and adhere to the In-Shape Clean Approach.
Maintain cleanliness records through Job Cards and communication logs.
Assist with daily upkeep of club amenities.
Help build the member community through a consistent member experience.
Where applicable, monitor bodies of water during the season and enforce rules.
Attend and participate in required meetings and trainings.
Lead floor training for new Club Custodians, including walkthroughs of cleaning zones, chemical mixing stations, Clean Approach Binder procedures, and cleaning cards; retrain existing team members as needed.
Coach, mentor, and support Club Custodian team members to improve skills, performance, and accountability.
Communicate team feedback, concerns, and opportunities to the General Manager and Assistant General Manager.
Support the General Manager with scheduling and proactively address coverage needs arising from absences or operational demands.
Identify positive performance trends and opportunities to improve housekeeping efficiency and service quality.
Conduct daily walk-throughs to support efficient housekeeping operations, cleanliness standards, and member satisfaction.
Review the Clean Approach Binder daily, develop and adjust weekly cleaning schedules, and verify zone completion standards, locker room checklists, and pool testing documentation.
Partner with the General Manager and Assistant General Manager to maintain appropriate inventory of cleaning supplies and operational materials.
Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned to support club operations.
