About The Position

Our client is seeking a highly skilled Cloud Systems Engineer / Administrator to support and enhance mission-critical infrastructure across both Windows enterprise environments and AWS cloud platforms. This hybrid role blends hands-on system administration with engineering and automation, supporting secure, scalable, and compliant environments within Department of Defense programs. The ideal candidate has strong experience across Windows Server environments, Active Directory, AWS, and security-focused operations, and is comfortable working in a fast-paced, DevOps-oriented, ticket-driven environment.

Requirements

  • Active TS/SCI clearance
  • Security+ certification (DoD 8570 compliant)
  • 5–7+ years of experience in systems administration and/or engineering roles
  • Strong expertise in: Windows Server (2019/2022)
  • Strong expertise in: Active Directory (design, GPO, replication, access control)
  • Strong expertise in: PowerShell scripting and automation
  • Hands-on experience with AWS services (EC2, VPC, IAM, S3, etc.)
  • Experience with STIGs, RMF, and security compliance frameworks
  • Experience using ServiceNow and Jira in operational environments
  • Solid understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, routing)

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting Department of Defense or other federal environments
  • Familiarity with DevOps practices and infrastructure automation tools
  • Exposure to hybrid cloud environments and migration efforts

Responsibilities

  • Administer, engineer, and maintain Windows Server environments (2016/2019/2022) across on-premises and cloud platforms
  • Manage and optimize Active Directory, including architecture, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and hybrid configurations
  • Design and support Identity and Access Management (IAM) solutions across Windows and AWS environments
  • Perform system patching, updates, change requests, cyber task orders, and vulnerability remediation
  • Implement and enforce STIG hardening and security compliance baselines
  • Automate system administration tasks using PowerShell and scripting frameworks
  • Monitor system performance and troubleshoot complex issues across servers, endpoints, and cloud resources
  • Configure and maintain file services, print services, and secure remote access solutions
  • Support backup, recovery, and Continuity of Operations (COOP) planning and execution
  • Assist with system audits, logging, and compliance reporting (e.g., RMF, CMMC alignment)
  • Track, manage, and resolve incidents and service requests using ServiceNow
  • Support Agile workflows, sprint tasks, and backlog tracking using Jira
  • Collaborate with DevOps, cloud, and cybersecurity teams to support modernization initiatives
